A breeze of summer

While digging through last summer's files, I found a few picture that I didn't remember taking/thought I had lost.  I thought I would share them here.

Last summer was a busy one, but we still made time to come to the lake nearby at least once a week. I loved all the beautiful plants and scenes there, sunsets on the lake being my favorite. Every time I went there it seemed like there was something new I had never noticed before.

Once I spent extra time on the beach wondering around snapping, and exclaiming over the beauty around me. The lily pads were blooming, and bees were buzzing around them, slowly, I noticed (a photographer dream, no?). I love the way they turned out.

Another day we went to the park. I had the camera, as usual, and happened to be wearing my favorite pair of flip-flops. It was early evening. The sunlight was just perfect. Don't you think?

Last fall we took a short trip. On the way we stopped at a scenic view point. I grabbed the camera out of the trunk, and snapped a few pictures. The view took my breath away.

I took this picture one morning. I went out early when the dew was still on the grass. Is there anything better than water droplets and green grass?

Finishing off with a picture we took from the top of a hill we climbed once. It was so beautiful. You could see for miles.

I'm Thankful

I thank you God, for autumn days,
when chilly winds are high,
and leaves fall to the ground below,
blowing against the cerulean sky.

I thank you God, for friends dear,
that are always in our hearts,
for memories that last a lifetime,
for the ones about to start.

I thank you God, for the family,
that you have given to me,
For all the ways they've cared,
and shaped me to who I'm meant to be.

I thank you God, for today,
and all the years of faith,
help me in the coming days,
to steadfastly run the race.

I thank you God, for your Son,
that came to earth for us,
who died to give forgiveness of sin,
to all who in His name will trust.

Snapshot Saturday Finalists

There were only 4 entries in the photo contest, so I decided to only have 2 finalists. I loved all of the entries! My Dad, who has done some professional photography, and helps me a lot with my photography, helped me pick the finalists. You could say he was my guest judge. :) Great photos everyone!

Comment with your favorite.

I am thankful

I am thankful...

for the chilly winds outside, for the colorful leaves that cover that driveway and lawn. I am thankful for cloudy days, that make warm cups of coffee all the cozier...and for the Christmas music that plays in the background.

For wide open spaces and bright blue skies.

For the hoodies, sweaters, and scarves pulled out of dusty boxes to wear for the first time this year. for time outdoors with my family--spent laughing and talking together. For dry fields of wheat to lay in and dream.

For the cozy campfires and roasted marshmallows, laughter filled evenings and moments spent silently reminiscing in the starlight.

Placid lakes without a ripple...framed by branches and fall leaves.

I am thankful for the chilly winds, the birds flying south, for golden sunsets.

I am thankful for weathered paths lined by trees laden with fall leaves. Forests of color--draped in red, green, yellow and orange.

I am thankful for autumn--and for the tools and help me capture just a little of its brilliant beauty

p.s. what do you think of my new signature?

A new perspective

Have you ever looked at something a new way, and suddenly it meant something to you? I've only done photography for a short time, but I've already learned so much. Not just about technical things like focus or aperture, but also things about life.

Have you ever looked a raindrop closely?

I hadn't.

Have you ever thought about how beautiful they are? How small and intricate?

What about plants? Have you ever gotten on your hands and knees and spent time studying the complicated patterns of each blade of grass? Ever thought about the miracle of a seed pushing its way out of the ground into the sunlight?

Have you ever marveled at the elaborate design of the world around us?
 I hadn't.
Not as much as I should have. I didn't realize so much was waiting for me out there...how much I could learn about myself...how much I could learn about God. Not until I started photography. Not I got outside and began to look around me.

Then I began thinking...God who made the beautiful world for us, God who with one word made millions of stars, also made you and me. The God who knows the number of my hairs, keeps our tears in a bottle, who cares for every bird on the planet, is the same who died for me. And I keep feeling like my miniscule problems are too much for him?

And I keep doubting His love for me when He made the whole world just for us to enjoy? When He sent His Son into the world to die for me?

And I keep forgetting to thank for all He's done, because I'm too busy trying to solve problems that are really none of my worries?

{fabulous friday}

Thank you God, that you're there for me. Thank you that you've made this world for me to enjoy--help me to appreciate it like I ought to. Help me to trust you with life's problems, to know that you're in control, and that I can trust you. Thank you God, for choosing me, before I was born, to be yours, and bringing me to the place where I could repent of my sins and receive you as my Savior. Thank you Jesus for your dying for me, so I could receive your gift of forgiveness of sin and new life!
As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:12
Help me to become more like you, God, every day.

A walk in the country

Although we live in a subdivision, I have found a place (in walking distance) where I can satisfy my craving for the outdoors. It is my little spot where, when lost in the world held by bounderies of city fences and roads, I can steal away and catch my breath, lie and dream in the fields, drinking in the beauty all around me.

And just a little further is a field of yet unharvested corn.  I love the large variety of color in this corn field. Ah, the joys of Autumn!

I love the richness of the colors in this photo.

I love this place....my little corner of nature in the midst of metropolis.

I will return often....for "the mountains are calling me, and I must go".
