A dreary day

It is a dreary day. Rain is falling lazily from a darkened sky. The snow that fell so beautifully earlier today is now clumped and sticky, each raindrop erasing the evidence of what once was. From my position on the sofa, the world outside looks quite dreary.

Inside, though, is warm and bright, brightening the day's gloom. My hands wrap around a cup of coffee, soaking in the warmth of the steamy beverage. A worn book lying on the table beside me catches my eye, and soon I am lost in the world of the characters.

Days as these ought to come more often, I muse. They bring things back into perspective, remind me of what really matters. Days can be dreary, our lives as well,  but the important things will never change. Your dreams are always there to come back to when life is disappointing. Your loved ones will be there when you need them most. And best of all, God will always, always keep His promises.
